"The Stick"- featured artist
During the last few years, I have been inspired to paint vintage inspired shop displays in the inner-city areas of Melbourne and country towns such as Clunes.
The images capture familiar objects of bygone eras and at the same time, the shop windows reflect the street, buildings and sky, which create a secondary narrative layer and add an ethereal effect.
I really enjoy exploring how the shop window glass creates dual visual properties of transparency and reflections. This multiplies the visual information available and adds an ethereal dimension to the art-work.
At the same time, I enjoy creating figurative and portrait paintings where I capture a person or group of people within an interesting narrative setting. For example, Ella and a Butterfly portrays a young girl flourishing amongst the natural setting of the Australian landscape.
