My desire to paint came when 9 yrs old-A teacher at primary school help up a print of a watercolour of Sir Hans Heysen. Instantly something within told me that was what I wanted to be my life's path . I wanted to paint as Sir Hans did . Drawing has always been my first love and I spent 10 years sketching pioneer buildings and old farms in the Barossa Valley and places north in South Australia --No colour just Graphite on location and developed up in sepia inks at the studio . From 1980 My observation of a Superb fairy Wren inspired me to go into wildlife painting . This continued until early 2001 when I was commissioned to go to Bangladesh to produce a book of my art and photos of that country . An adventure that changed my life and subject matter forever . The people and lifestyles of the sub continent have been added to what inspires me as an artist .
I love drawing in Graphite on watercolour washed backgrounds . The Flinders Ranges in northern S Aust have inspired me since I was 16 , some 56 years . The magnificent River Red Gums and ancient Yakkas are long time favourite subject matters . I think my greatest love as far as subject matter goes is our pioneer buildings along with bird life . The combination always inspires me to do my best works in my opinion . I hope you enjoy my works .
